Francis F. Quinn, is a shareholder in the Industrial and Consumer Product Liability Practice Group in the New York and Philadelphia offices of Lavin, Cedrone, Graver, Boyd & DiSipio. He has more than thirty years of litigation experience in a wide variety of matters in federal and state courts in New York, Pennsylvania and New Jersey. These include cases of product liability, mass torts, construction accidents, insurance litigation, automobile negligence and business torts. He has successfully tried numerous cases in these jurisdictions.

Mr. Quinn’s product liability litigation experience includes trials for automobile, appliance, forklift and press manufacturers. He has defended a significant number of fire cases for major corporations. He has represented utility construction companies in a variety of cases. He represented a large financial institution in a significant claim of libel, slander and tortious interference with business relations. Over the years he has extensive experience with asbestos litigation from the earliest days of that litigation.

Some recent results for Mr. Quinn include:

·A summary judgement in favor of major corporation in an industrial accident involving New York Labor Law claims.

·A defense verdict for a major appliances manufacturer on a design defect claim by a burn victim.

· A summary judgment on the basis of Daubert v. Merrell-Dow on a claim of design defect in a coffee maker by a severely burned child, which judgment was upheld by the United States Court of Appeals, for the Second Circuit.

· A reversal of a lower court’s denial of a motion for summary judgment by the New York State Supreme Court Appellate Division for the First Department, which then entered summary judgment on behalf of his client.

Mr. Quinn has lectured for the New York State Bar Association and the Association of the Bar of the City of New York. The subjects for these lectures included discovery issues, expert witnesses and evidentiary issues.

Mr. Quinn attended the Georgetown School of Foreign Service and Saint Joseph’s University. He received his Bachelor of Arts with Honors in History form Saint Joseph’s in 1967. He earned his Juris Doctor from the University of Pennsylvania Law School in 1971. While at law school he was a Legal Writing Fellow. Mr. Quinn served as a law clerk to Honorable Daniel H. Huyett, III of the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania from 1971 to 1973.

From 1973 to 1995 Mr. Quinn practiced in Philadelphia. In 1995 he expanded his practice to New York and relocated to that office where he served ten years as managing partner as well as senior litigator in the office. He currently maintains an office in each city.

At the present time Mr. Quinn is admitted to practice in the highest courts of New York, Pennsylvania and New Jersey. In addition he is admitted to the Supreme Court of the United States; the United States Court of Appeals for the Second and Third Circuits; the United States District Courts for the Southern, Eastern, Northern and Western Districts of New York; the Eastern and Middle Districts of Pennsylvania; and the District of New Jersey.

Mr. Quinn is a member of the New York State and Philadelphia Bar Associations, the Association of the Bar of the City of New York, the Defense Research Institute and the New York City Defense Association.
