Timothy McHugh is a shareholder and member of the firm’s Board of Directors.  He is also the managing attorney of the New York City office. He concentrates his practice in the firm’s Industrial and Consumer Product Liability, Toxic Torts and Business Litigation Groups.

In the approximate 25 years of practice as a trial attorney, Mr. McHugh has tried numerous cases to verdict and has served as second chair on several complex automobile product liability and heavy industrial equipment trials. In addition to jury verdicts, Mr. McHugh has secured summary judgment dismissals in various types of cases (automobile defect, treadmill defect, aerial lift defect, labor law and premises cases). Mr. McHugh also devotes a significant portion of his practice defending several Fortune 500 companies in asbestos lawsuits filed in New York City and the State and Federal Courts across both New York and New Jersey.

Mr. McHugh graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in Government from Dartmouth College in 1991. He earned his Juris Doctor from St. John’s University, School of Law in 1994. Mr. McHugh is admitted in all of the State and Federal Courts in both New York and New Jersey.

Mr. McHugh is a member of the Nassau County and Suffolk County Bar Associations and The Brehon Societies of Suffolk County and Nassau County.  He is also a member of the Defense Association of New York.

Mr. McHugh was invited to attend and successfully completed the International Association of Defense Counsel’s Trial Academy at Stanford University School of Law.

While at Dartmouth, Mr. McHugh played lacrosse and earned four varsity letters. During his senior year, he served as co-captain and was selected as the recipient of the Tom Dent Memorial Award given to the team’s most valuable player. He was also selected for the Division I North – South All Star game.

Personal

Mr. McHugh resides on Long Island with his wife and two daughters. He is an active member of Our Lady Queen of Martyrs Parish and the Ancient Order of Hibernians, Division 7.  He served on the Executive Board of the Harborfields Booster Club for several years while his children were in high school.  He enjoys skiing and spending time in the Adirondack State Park.
